ABSTRACT |
TNT transformation was dependent on whether nitrate or nitrite was present as the terminal electron acceptor. Nitrates within the medium stimulated the reduction of TNT para-position nitro group, whereas nitrites catalyzed the deaminization and hydroxy I ation processes of the amino group. In the absence of other electron acceptor contributions, the transformation of the ortho-position nitro group was rapid. |
